Mossberg Persuader 12 Guage Shotgun
This variant of the Mossberg 500 is called the Persuader, and is very obviously intended for security purposes. It holds 7 rounds in the magazine. I bought this near the end of 1999 (in preparation for Y2K), which makes this the firearm that I have owned the longest.
I have installed the pistol grip stock on it, which makes it much more maneuverable in tight spaces. However, there is no good way to hold it such that it can be pointed or aimed with any accuracy, so it is only useful for close range shots. Therefore, it makes a good home defense configuration. With 2¾" shells, it is controllable, but with 3" magnums, the thing wants to kick out of my hands.
I keep Remington HD (Heavy Density) Ultimate Home Defense 2¾" shells with BB shot for use in this shotgun.
I purchased this shotgun in 1999.
