Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless in 7mm Remington Magnum

This is a Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum.

This is the first hunting rifle I ever owned, the first firearm I did any handloading for, and the rifle I used to take my first deer. It is no longer my favorite or most accurate rifle, but it is still capable and useful as a spare, as a loaner, or as an all-weather firearm.

It is topped with a Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40mm scope.

Zero

This rifle is currently zeroed at 100 yards for its best known deer hunting load: 72.6 grains of RETUMBO under a 140 grain AccuBond bullet, using WLR primers, Remington Brass, seated to an OAL of 3.385 inches, and crimped.

Tested Muzzle Velocity: 3077 fps, BC: 0.485, Sight Height: 1.685"

Project

I might allow this rifle to become a project once my brother finishes gunsmithing school. I'll have him true the action, rebarrel it with a premium barrel, give it a heavier contour and a shorter throat, and install an H-S Precision stock. Don't change the trigger, though. Then I'll upgrade to a nicer scope with a better mount.

After that, I will expect to be able to use this for a litte longer ranges, maybe 300-400 yards.
